Levias Arion Decus is the older brother of Leviana-Silvana Pomona Decus and the son of Silvana Nix Ruber and Levias Viator Decus. Ever since he was ten years old he has spent his days as a horse and his nights as a man due to a Tenebrarian curse.
As a human, Arion is tall, lean, and muscular, with tan skin just a little lighter than his sister's. He has black hair that he wears very long, often down his back. He has blue eyes, a recessive trait received from his maternal grandmother. He is considered handsome by those fortunate enough to see him in human form. He has a couple of tattoos given to him when he was very young and living in Solharena, but they were not enough to claim his identity and prevent him from being cursed.
By day Arion takes the form of a brown horse with black splotches on him wherever the human Arion has tattoos. His eyes also remain blue, which makes him rather unforgettable as a horse. His mane and tail are silky and black.
Arion is a quiet but determined person. He prefers to listen and watch, observing everything around him before acting on it. He is very loyal and thinks of his family first. Sometimes he gets preoccupied with how he thinks things ought to be and causes trouble trying to make them that way, often by ignoring what other people say or think about it. He is gentle and a good listener.
Early Life Edit
Arion was born in a Prima caravan, and his first language is Prima. He was much loved by his extended family and received a couple of tattoos early in life (despite his mother's distaste for them). When he was seven years old, he was caught in a sandstorm with his parents and separated from his father. In the months that followed, he wandered with his mother while she looked for his father and even helped deliver his baby sister, Pomona. He, his mother, and his sister returned to his mother's old home in forested Seneca and met his grandmother for the first time. Arion adored Pomona, but one day while they were playing outside, Pomona was cursed with the ability to steal someone's breath away. Arion was affected by the curse and fell ill for several days before recovering.
Not long after this event, the family was visited by royal messengers who ordered the family to come to Artorius. Nix refused and attempted to escape, telling Arion to run. Nix, Pomona, and Leta were taken, but Arion managed to run into the woods. As he ran, he was struck with Tenebrarian magic and turned into a horse. When he turned back into a boy that night, he returned home and retrieved his mother's white rose for safekeeping. He then wandered and eventually found shelter in the lost castle of Archland.
Young Adulthood Edit
Arion was taken in by the prince of the castle, Bernas Arcadius Polaris, and his friends Aedon and Jason Caratacaus. He thought of Aedon and Jason like parents because of how well they cared for him. Eventually he learned that Pomona was important to the people in the castle, and he vowed to find her. At the age of 21 he left the palace to find her. He wandered Archland for years looking for clues. He was eventually led to Artorius, where Pomona was living as the head gardener. His appearance is part of what sets Pomona's story into motion.
A Girl in Shadows Clothed Edit
Arion does not reveal his identity to anyone at the palace, and he finds that it is so permeated with dark magic that he does not turn back into a human at night. He does learn to communicate with Pomona, and he begins developing a relationship with her. At one point, he tried to run away with her and take her back to Arcadius's palace, but she refuses to go with him. When Princess Nevea's life is threatened, Arion flees with Pomona and Nevea into the forest. Pomona has learned that Arion is her brother, but he does not reveal to her that he transforms back at night until they have taken shelter with Governor Selene Magna of Seneca.
Arion stays in touch with Arcadius, who visits him every so often without Pomona's knowledge. One night, Pomona hears one of their conversations and misunderstands, leading her to make decisions that place others in danger. Arion is separated from her for a time and goes with her friend Tal as they escape from burning Clymene. He eventually travels across Archland with Tal to where Pomona is in Alcmena, Southarchland and helps Pomona escape. He manages to lead them to the mountains where Arcadius's castle is. He makes Pomona think that he is bargaining her away, and he departs with Tal, leaving Pomona in the castle.
